Fingerprint Family

For the Family Night @ the Library activity this week, the children were provided materials to make a picture of their family using their fingerprints. The children's creativity was evident when some of them used their fingerprints as the head for each member of their family and others used their fingerprints to color in their picture. The pictures the children (and some of the parents) created were amazing. Some of the children allowed me to keep their pictures to hang in the hallway for their friends to see. Other chose to take their pictures home.  I was most excited to see one of my friends come to Family Night with his uncles when mom had to work. This showed me that Family Night @ the Library is important to attend, no matter who brings the child! Thank you for allowing your child to attend on Thursday evenings. I hope it is as fun and rewarding for you as it is for me.

Next week we will be making a Family Glyph. Using a key, the children will make a visual representation of the people who live in their home. When two of more of the glyphs are together they can be used to compare and contrast the two households. It is a great way for young children to make comparisons. I hope you can join us next week, October 11th for this activity at Family Night @ the Library from 3:00 - 7:00.
